There are a variety of volunteer opportunities at Shepherd’s Pantry. We currently have more than 150 volunteers who participate in our program in different areas. Every volunteer experience is unique and will be taken on an individual basis, we strive to build an environment of consistency for clients. We are happy to accommodate high school and college students who need community service hours to graduate. To inquire about that please email info@shepherdspantry.com.
Although we would love to be able to accommodate children and parents who want to volunteer out of a spirit of giving to their community, there are extra precautions we must take because of the way we distribute our food. We welcome Girl Scout and Boy Scout troops, Elementary Schools, High Schools, and College organizations to partner with us in organizing food drives as a way of volunteering their time and service.
Welcome clients as they enter the facility; instruct clients regarding paperwork requirements; maintain client files. Our client admissions volunteers are the first contact clients have with Shepherd’s Pantry so it is important to have a warm and welcoming personality.
On a weekly basis, assemble family food boxes and grocery bags for distribution; restock food shelves; help load/unload food truck. During the hours we are open to the public, fill client food orders and transport to their vehicle. Food handlers meet at the Pantry Monday and Tuesday mornings from 8:00 am to 11:00 am to assemble family food boxes and grocery bags for the week.
On Wednesday afternoons, deliver food orders to home delivery clients; requires use of personal vehicle and must be physically able to lift/carry up to 25lbs.
Help clients find suitable clothing items from large inventory; restock clothing rack/shelves; sort income clothing donations; assist with laundering and cleaning incoming clothing donations.
