Dear Volunteers,
As the season changes, the rain rolls in, and the year begins to wind down, we find ourselves with a moment to pause and reflect. This time of year reminds us to be grateful and to look forward with hope.
Five months ago, I joined Shepherd’s Pantry as its Executive Director, and every single day since, I’ve been amazed. As I’ve made my way through each department, I’ve had the privilege of meeting so many of you. Everyone has a different story about how they got here, but the common denominator is your dedication, compassion, and selfless service to others.
To say I am grateful for you would be an understatement. Whether you’re sorting produce, driving across the county, cleaning the warehouse, running through the rain, welcoming clients at the door, or typing up a storm behind the scenes, you are shaping a brighter future. Because of your efforts, we’ve been able to serve over 94,000 people this year so far, ensure that more than 19,000 children didn’t go to bed hungry, and provide over 18,000 seniors with a place to turn.
This past month, we also faced the loss of SNAP benefits for many in our community. But when the need rose, so did you. So many of you stepped up, without hesitation, to make sure families didn’t fall through the cracks.
It’s easy to say I am grateful for our volunteers. But please know, we are truly indebted. Shepherd’s Pantry is made possible by your generosity; we could not do this without you. As this Thanksgiving sets in and the plates pile up in the sink, know that you have fed more people than those sitting at your table. On behalf of them and the Shepherd’s Pantry team, thank you.
Sabrina Bow
Executive Director
